The Annex

Another one of Toronto’s long-standing communities, The Annex is a melting pot of people from different walks of life, with an old-world feel. Situated just north of The University of Toronto in Midtown, The Annex is home to a range of residents, from students to corporate professionals and families. Next to the university and popular student hangouts, and close to Kensington Market and Little Italy, The Annex is a vibrant neighbourhood that draws its energy from the surrounding bars, restaurants, venues, and student presence.

Shopping in The Annex is a unique experience, thanks to the abundance of eclectic retailers—from antique shops, art galleries, and consignment boutiques to bookstores and record stores—lining Bloor and Markham streets. The neighbourhood truly comes alive in the evening when locals fill the streets popping in and out of lounges, restaurants, and clubs.

Art lovers will enjoy being close to the Hot Docs cinema where local and international films are on display, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) which houses millions of domestic and international exhibits, and the Royal Conservatory of Music where an evening of classical music can be enjoyed.

The collection of homes in The Annex built between 1880 and 1910 resemble Victorian, Queen Anne, and Richardsonian Romanesque styles, with some of the finest architectural details in the city. The collection of homes built between 1910 to 1930 are more modest than their predecessors, but still resemble excellent English Cottage, Georgian, and Tudor-style architecture.

North York

An expansive area of northern Toronto stretching from Etobicoke to Scarborough, North York is home to many neighbourhoods and various cultures. North York includes popular areas like Downsview, Willowdale, Yorkdale, York Mills, Don Mills, and Bayview Village. The real estate is assorted, the residents are diverse, and the energy is vibrant.

The Don River cuts north-south through the middle of North York, and is surrounded by parkland and green spaces.
